What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard, created by Anthropic, for connecting AI assistants like Claude to outside tools and data.

An MCP server sits on your server and offers Claude a set of tools, for example "check disk space" or "look up an order". In Claude, you add it as a custom connector. Claude can then use those tools in a chat, and asks for your approval before it acts.

What Claude can do on your server

You decide which tools to switch on. Common examples:

  • Check server health: CPU, memory, disk and uptime
  • Read and summarise logs when something goes wrong
  • Look up records in your database (read-only by default)
  • Search your files and documentation
  • Connect your own business apps and APIs

How we set it up

  1. Choose your server

    A Noc VPS or dedicated server, ready-made or custom-built. We can add MCP to a server you already have with us.

  2. Agree the tools

    We go through what Claude should be able to see and do, and start read-only wherever possible.

  3. We install and secure the MCP server

    Served over HTTPS (Streamable HTTP), with sign-in through OAuth, and the firewall limited to Claude's published IP ranges.

  4. You connect Claude

    In Claude, add a custom connector with the address we give you, then sign in. We'll walk you through it.

  5. We keep watching

    The MCP server is monitored 24/7 with the rest of your server, and updated when needed.

What you need

  • A Noc VPS or dedicated server
  • A Claude account. Custom connectors are available on Claude's Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans; Free accounts can add one
  • On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds the connector for the organisation
